2025 TACCONF: Building a Sustainable Transport Legacy

On October 8, 2025, Molivann Panot, Project Director at CIRANO, spoke at the Annual Conference of the Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) in Québec City, as part of the session “CC.4 Climate Vulnerability and Resilience: Getting Out in Front.”

His presentation, entitled “Trade Efficiency and Climate Change in the Great Lakes–Saint Lawrence Corridor: A Digital Twin Approach,”draws on work conducted under the direction of Thierry Warin (HEC Montréal, CIRANO), Martin Trépanier (CIRRELT), Nathalie de Marcellis-Warin (Polytechnique Montréal, CIRANO), in collaboration with Igor Sadoune (CIRANO), as part of the GVCdtLab initiative.

This research examines the consequences of hydrological variations on the efficiency of maritime transport and explores the potential of a digital twin — an integrated virtual modeling system — to better anticipate the economic impacts of climate change on navigation and logistics in the Great Lakes–St. Lawrence corridor.

CIRANO’s participation in this national event highlights its active role in generating applied knowledge aimed at informing public decision-making on climate adaptation and the resilience of maritime trade.
